It's been a long time since my last post and it's actually been a good month or two off from poker. However, a few days ago, i played a few freerolls and did really well, so im confident i still have my game!
My netellers not working, so finding ways of starting a roll has been difficult, but i decided to dabble in some sports betting to give me a kick start. So, I decide to bet on what appears to be a sure victory, Liverpool to beat Derby at 2/7. Ok, so, £42 is placed on this, and i am to get £12 back. Very poor odds, but, in my eyes it's an easy £12. ...How wrong was i....
Liverpool came out strong and Torres scored a great goal to make it 0-1. They searched for a 2nd goal but it didn't arrive. Derby scored an equaliser and had chances of winning the game. I had to wait until the 90th minute for steven gerrard to give Liverpool the 3 points and me a very well earned £12. £42 would have been a huge loss for me and a huge fuck up from me had liverpool drawn or lost here. I'm very relieved and am looking forward to turning this £12 into thousands. I'm not quite sure how im going to do it yet, i feel really chilled out about things, and don't feel pressured to play. Some well calculated sports bets and a few good rounds of poker, and i should be ok.

Stars is sick, but going gr8!
I've been playing on stars for the past week or so. Things are really going great. I'm way over what i started with. I've cashed out my starting money and am only playing profits now, i figure, by doing that, i can't really 'lose' - it's a win win situation this way.
I did lose a sick pot though the other night. Heads Up 2/5 i pick up 108 in the bb and call a 3x bet. Flop is 966 - i figure that's a good flop for me, so i re-raised his expected follow up bet, he called, so i figure i can bluff the turn and take the pot right there. The turn was a 7 - giving me a 10 high straight! He checked it, so i bet just over the pot...he re-raises me ALL IN....what??? What on earth could he have?? There's no flush on the board, no higher straight, maybe he's betting his trips? -- I had to call....he turns over 96! haha he flopped a full house...so sick!
Other than that, it's been good, i'm still playing with profits, and it's mainly 2/5 cash...it's going well.

Taking a break
After my last blog, i deposited some $$$ into fulltilt and started out great - i was playing winning poker and playing a positive aggressive game. However, i eventually lost a few big pots and after a bad run, eventually lost it all. It really sucked. Though i won't deposit again for a long long time, i will try and play some freerolls and do a 'chris ferguson' type challenge if you will....just start with $0 and see if i can build it up - if i can get anywhere near 10 thousand dollars, i will be happy.

Busted, but things are looking good...
About 2 weeks ago, i busted my $180 roll. It really sucked, i was playing .50/1 HU and came across a really sick hand, it pretty much crippled me.
I was playing a complete maniac who kept raising. I was hoping to check raise with good hands.
After about 8 hands, this happened. I called a3x bet on the button with Q9 suited and the flop comes Qx8. He bets out again, and figuring im good, i re-raise, he calls. Turn is a 9, giving me two pair Qs and 9s. He bets out, i re-raise and he calls....river is a 10, he bets out, i move all in. He calls and turns over KJ, giving him KQJ109 - very sick hand.
It was pretty much down hill from there, eventually i lost my whole roll.
However, things are looking better.....
Two days ago, i decided to play a 360 entrant Poker after Dark qualifier rd 1 - it was only ment for fun, the top 2 would qualify for round 2. Anyways....i played great and finished 2nd.
Round 2 was the next night and out of 4000 entrants, the top 9 would get entered into the Poker after dark final. Here they get the chance to earn a place on the Poker After Dark show and also 30k. I played the tournament in the early hours (3am) and fancied my chances - I was playing great poker and was building my stack at a good pace. I played aggressively, but not stupidly. There were about 40 players left and i was 3rd, i really felt like i could win the whole thing. But unfortunately, I ended up finishing in 26th :-(
I was 14th at the time, in great shape and was comitted to a pot with AJ suited against 66 -- it was a race, and well, the sixes held up. Ah well....il take 2nd and 26th. I'm going to deposit soon and hopefully build up a good roll. Hope to talk about it soon!

Biting the dust...almost
It’s been a crazy day today at the tables. 133 FTP points later, I find myself just under my starting roll - which was $32 two weeks ago. It was up to $80, then down to $60 - then was $53 at the start of today’s session.I started great, mainly 3-4 handed NLH cash, .5/.10, .10/.25 and .25/.50 limits. I went up to about $70, then down to a mere $16 - then back up.
This is not a direct result of poor playing, I kid you not, I don’t think it’s possible for a human to be as unlucky as I have been today. There was a situation were I flopped a full house with 96, board 996 - the money went all in before the turn after I re-raised him. He had KK, turn is a K….it’s just sick. I haven’t won any races today either, it’s pretty crappy. But I can’t moan, in the long run, good play will always prevail and it’s important not to let some sour luck get to you.
However, I did tilt, and I did lose some money with overly aggressive play at .25/.50 - anyways, my rolls on $28 now and I’m contemplating doing one of two things……
Take a few days to regroup my thoughts and come back stronger and win loads of money ..oooor…..stick my whole roll on a heads up game. At this moment in time, I’m favouring the latter….
I’ll let you know how I get on!

The grind continues...
I haven’t posted for a while. Since my last blog I lost my roll and took a bit of a break.
I started up a roll again last Saturday, $32 to be exact. I played great in my first session that night, boosting my roll to $45 on pot limit hold em. Sunday night was a disaster, I played when drunk and lost about $16, I really can’t play when I’m drunk or tired, I need to concentrate on what I’m doing. Since Monday I’ve been working hard on getting it all back. I’m now up, but just about. I started with $32 and I’m now on $33.45 -- jeez, what a rollercoaster.
I just won a $5.25 heads up with someone, that’s been my game of choice lately. On $2 and $5 limits, I am undefeated. 6 in 6. Challenge anyone?? All you need is a full tilt account :-)
I’ve avoided tournaments for the time being, my roll's really not big enough to be spending on tournaments just yet. There’s a good $1 tournament rebuy on full tilt at 6 and 9pm, but haven’t had a chance to enter it yet. I’m really happy with my tournament performance though. It’s probably the strongest part of my game. Every tournament I seem to play in, I either cash or bubble. So….once my roll is of a decent level, I’ll be hitting the tournaments more often.
Other than playing heads up, I’ve been enjoying 3 handed pot limit aswel. With some good ole aggression you can really make some easy money.
Anyways, that’s enough of me rambling…the grind continues.

I hate you Jerry Yang!
Since my last blog things have been going up and down. My $91 roll took a huge dent on Friday. I decided to play heads up no limit hold em, a game which I am good at but try not to play too often, especially online.
...2nd hand in, this happens.
I pick up QQ and raise the 3x bb, he thinks for a bit then re-raises, I push all in for $9 - he calls and flips over AK - before I could even catch my breath a K hit’s the flop and the chips were being pushed in his direction. I was quite literally crushed.
I didn’t let this deter me and continued playing, but my tilt was just getting worse. I was taking no shit from bullies and was re-raising people who I felt were stealing. This, in no limit, 5+ handed is not a good way to play - not for me anyway. I ended up being stuck for $38 at the end of the day and was quite annoyed at my unnecessary aggression.
Later in the night I played live poker - It was, Me, Bluescouse, Portdeco, Moz and Gravedigger - 5 handed and the structure was £5 No limit hold em with unlimited rebuys. I started off really badly, I re-bought about 4 times, and just weren’t catching cards. When I did catch a card, I’d be beat. It was pretty sick, I played the short stack for most of it.
..It was down to Me, Gravedigger, Portdeco and Moz, when this happened >> I have about 5 big blinds left and pick up A4 - I limp, cos I want to see a flop, and Tommy to my left moves all in, Moz folds, Portdeco folds, and well, I had to call. He flips over AQ and against my A4 I am a certain loser here. I start thinking of the excuses id be making for my poor play of the evening, but before I could rest on anything for certain, two 4s hit the board giving me a set. Everyone was joking that I was due in for some luck, but wow, this even surprised me. It was a sick beat for Gravedigger, fair dues, he was left with one chip, 1 ante. It was great though, cos he somehow fought back and became joint chip leader! It was insane.
I got my act together in the game but felt I was fighting on the ropes for the whole thing. Somehow, I made it heads up with Portdeco, again. Last time I won, so im sure he was out for some sweet revenge. He was the big stack so I didn’t have too much confidence. It went back and forth for about 8 hands and eventually I was bust. I forgot the hand that bust me, I think I through it in with 2nd pair to his top pair. Good game, good times.
We played a turbo game to end the night on, £10 freeze out, again, no limit hold em. The freeze out setup suited my style more as some of the looser players even had to play tighter. This is were I could play some poker, and great poker it was. I took an early lead through a big pot with Port and never looked back. I made some great reads, some great plays and even showed some bluffs. I won the turbo and ended the night $60 up.
However, and more to the point, during the first tourmanet, Moz raised the question…. ‘who won the world series of poker main event?’ - the table was unsure, but I was certain it was ‘Jerry Lang’ - Now, Bluescouse said it wasn’t, but I was certain it was. So we put $20 on it, and he gave me a 2.5/1 edge. So, I had to go with my instincts and bet on Jerry Lang, and it had to be LANG, nothing else. So, Gravedigger checked online, signed onto the wsop website and we checked it out and ……..yeah, you guessed it….his name is Jerry…. YANG.
What a silly ass bet that was … I’ll never forget that guys name again.

An eventful day on fulltilt
It’s been a crazy day today on full tilt. I’ve been playing the best poker of my life recently and I feel I can do no wrong. I opened and ended the day on real exciting hands. I sat at a 3 handed 0.05/0.10 pot limit hold em table with $6 to start with. My strategy was to play tight and see a lot of cheap flops. First hand I pick up KK…I raised only 2x in bb, UTG calls, sb doubles my bet. I call, UTG folds. Flop is 6K10 rainbow. I take my time, and check it to him. He quickly bets half the pot, I re-raise, he pushes…..he turns over AK…I take down the $11 pot.
Not a bad start, but I stick to my guns and continue to play tight…I eventually find myself in a heads up situation and pick up J8 off-suit. We both check and we see the a flop J7J two hearts. He checks, I decide to play it fast and quickly bet, he quickly calls. Turn is another heart, he checks, I check. River is an 8 -- he bets 3x bb - I re-raise huge. He moves all in. He turns over the nut flush and sees the bad news. Another player crushed by Hellboy.
I decide to take a break and chill down for a bit. After a relaxing a few hours I hit the 0.05/0.10 table again. It’s 4 handed pot limit and I’m being crushed, I start with $7 and jus see my stack wearing away slowly and what seems like surely. I made a few bad calls with middle pair and found myself playing hands and pots I know I shouldn’t be involved in. I’m down to about $3.30 but was almost broke at one point. At 3.30 I pick up the two snowmen 88 in the sb. It gets raised to me and I flat call, bb re-raises, original raiser re-raises, I call, bb pushes, original raiser calls, I call. And it’s 3 way all in action. I was on tilt and wouldn’t normally make this wild call, but these guys were raising every pot, so I didn’t take them very seriously. Anyways, back to the hand…..I had 88 and was up against 44 and JJ. I was surely going to lose….
Flop is 656 - I figure it’s not a bad flop as I have some outs, but it looks grim. Turn is a 7. Wow…could the sickest thing happen..no, surely not?? River …………….an 8 -- I win the main pot with a house, $9.90 or so. 44 wins side pot or whatever with a straight. Sick beat for the Jacks, but he played like a maniac, and though I thought he was going to take all my money, it was always in the back of my mind that I’ll pick up a good pair and show him the goods. It worked out great.
